The Unusual SDI Industry Born of a Need

The exciting explosion in the popular SDI (Self Directed Income) sales and marketing industry is causing a re-birth of entrepreneurism and may be helping to secure our freedoms for our youth as it provides a platform for promoting and fostering unfettered free enterpriseto the masses of usually, uniformed people.

This unusual concept of sales and marketing which was born in the mid-20th Century was first referred to as multi-level marketing, a little later it was called network marketing. As this sales and marketing industry evolved some companies created new names to distinguish themselves as being different such as referral marketing and consumer direct marketing.

In the late 1990's, some experienced network marketing distributors decided that new language was needed to leave behind much of the negativity that had tainted the multi-level or network marketing industry during the latter years of the 20th Century. Consequently, it was decided that the phrase Self Directed Income (SDI) Industry would be used to describe independently owned and operated, home-based enterprises that did not rely on employees. The SDI Industry includes all kinds of direct sales and marketing business opportunities such as multi-level, network, referral and consumer direct marketing.

Dr. Forrest Shaklee (Shaklee Corporation) and Rich DeVoss and Jay VanAndel (Amway Corporation) as well as Mary Kay (Mary Kay Cosmetics Corporation) were the respected pioneers of this innovative, sales and marketing strategy. As young entrepreneurs, they were perceptive enough to know that it takes something new ... something different ... something exciting ... and something unusual to put and keep excitement in people's lives dulled by daily routines.

Now in 2011, numerous SDI, sales and marketing companies offer entrepreneurs (and becoming entrepreneurs) unusual business opportunities to earn solid sources of secondary income(s) because pioneering SDI entrepreneurs dared to be unusually different in the 1950's and 1960's. As we progress into this 21st Century, the direct selling industry strengthened by the unusual, SDI sector of sales and marketing is surpassing the growth rate of the traditional but weakening, retail store industry.

The business world - past, present or future - never has and likely never will witness a sales and marketing strategy even remotely comparable to the unusual birth and growth of the various, successful models of this mutually-beneficial and well-positioned industry where true power is blended from both the top and the bottom of the respective pyramidal structures.

Consider that the "home office" SDI company distributes products and/or services down the pyramid and we - the SDI entrepreneurs - give the "home office" SDI company power from the bottom when we purchase and market any of the selected products and/or services. In summary, value flows down the pyramidal structure and in response, power flows up the pyramidal structure. When the ratio of value to power is distorted - any pyramidal-shaped structure is destined to collapse.

Like an electrical current running through the faltering and failing economic system of usury-based, debt money, the SDI industry offers business opportunities that rejeuvenate, regenerate, restore and give a new lease on life to countless debtors who have been suffering from financial oppression by the “usury elites” - the influential and wealthy one percent of the population, to whom we have voluntarily surrendered our individual leadership and power.

While it is commonly agreed that the "home office" of the Amway Corporation in Ada, Michigan led the way with this innovative, sales and marketing strategy during the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's, since then, numerous other eager entrepreneurs have surfaced and are venturing into the blossoming world of the SDI industry and setting up new and improved copies of the original SDI sales and marketing models. Each participating "home office" company in the SDI industry usually offers exclusive lines of products and/or services to the retail market through networks or teams of SDI entrepreneurs who indirectly wholesale to their personally and group enrolled SDI entrepreneurs while directly retailing to a select, few, retail customers.

Most SDI entrepreneurs run their enterprise (part-time or full time) from an office in their home. Indeed, the SDI industry was born of the unusual need for part-time, sceondary income(s) by people from all walks of life. SDI networks or teams offer individuals lucrative, business opportunities with all the usual, tax benefits (and some unusual benefits) of out-of-reach businesses as well as unlimited, worldwide, growth potential.

An independent, SDI enterprise grows in an unusual fashion as part of a team or network. People (singles, couples or business partnerships) must be enrolled (sponsored) by a previously enrolled, SDI entrepreneur who is now operating a bonafide, SDI enterprise of his/her own. Each newly enrolled SDI entrepreneur is authorized to purchase products and/or services at discount (wholesale) prices from the "home office" SDI company. They commonly retail some of these products and/or services to a small number of preferred customers and/or otherwise consume these products for personal, family or business needs.

During the 20th Century, it was common for an already enrolled SDI entrepreneur to order extra products to have a supply on hand as immediate inventory. Now, in this 21st Century, given the ease of modern technology, SDI entrepreneurs are no longer required to carry any inventory as each newly enrolled, SDI entrepreneur is commonly assigned a replicating website and a back office with wholesale, ordering privileges. Their preferred, retail customers are invited to order directly from the website by clicking on the "shopping cart" icon, thereby eliminating the need for SDI entrepreneurs to invest in a large inventory.

Those SDI entrepreneurs who choose to build a bigger and more profitable enterprise, prospect and enrol other would-be-entrepreneurs and teach them to multiply and duplicate their efforts. Indeed, multiple thousands of SDI entrepreneurs are building profitable enterprises that are continually growing through multiplication and duplication of individual effort.

The SDI industry offers unique and innovative business opportunities with an initial investment that is often less than $500. (Canadian Funds). Such a low investment, start-up opens the door in almost every country of the free world, so that every man, woman, youth (over 18) who wants to become an SDI entrepreneur and run an independent enterprise of their own - can do so but not be alone.

Additionally, by way of the vehicle of the SDI industry, the masses are being offered a unique opportunity to learn much about economics and human nature that formal education neglects to teach. Many SDI entrepreneurs are evolving through personal growth and recognizing that it has been their ignorance and apathy that has allowed "monopoly capitalism" to infiltrate and out-muscle "free enterprise" in its purest form. Some leadership teams of SDI entrepreneurs are offering workshops/seminars to teach their participating members the “truth” about modern money creation - such unusual topics are not taught within our walls of formal education.

Learning about real-life, economic experiences of active, SDI entrepreneurs and blending this information with some additional, researched material about modern money creation enlightens people to be more fully aware of each one of us can do to accelerate the shifting, economic paradigm. In addition to this essential, background information, fixing a possible dream, setting a goal and working hard are still the essential pre-requisites, for success as an SDI entrepreneur.

SDI entrepreneurs seek to free themselves from the usual, financial worries so that they can be at ease as they assume unusual, leadership roles in the ongoing, information war to take our country back from the one percenters.

The ninety-nine percenters began their crusade to take our country back from the one percenters with the launch of “Occupy Wall Street” on September 17th, 2011. Hopefully, many of these ninety-nine percenters will discover the SDI industry as they search for timely solutions to take our country back from the one percenters.

During the transition period - that time when one is learning to shift from an employee mentality to an entrepreneurial mind-set - a process of awareness takes place as experienced SDI entrepreneurs expose newcomers to the pscyhological realm of self-image and self respect - two necessary qualities required to succeed as an SDI entrepreneur.

With its multiple missions, this giant but seemingly unknown, SDI industry may well be the ultimate saviour of free enterprise and the catalyst that will eventually crush "monopoly capitalism" as deviously engineered by the one percenters and ultimately play a key role in preserving our ultimate freedoms.

Some of the one percenters (the people currently in power) are very uncomfortable with the unprecedented growth of this bold, new, free enterprise movement - the SDI industry. Some militant labour union leaders, some politicians, some government bureaucrats, and some corporate executives of the capitalist monopolies are unusually critical and skeptical of the SDI industry.

Are the SDI entrepreneurs being targeted and criticized for re-educating the ninety-nine percenters on the simple issues of economics which are usually presented as being unusually complex by governments, labour unions and big corporations - the wealthy one percenters in power who have been plundering the masses by maximizing their selfish and greedy agendas? Indeed, the SDI industry is well positioned to take a leading role in re-educating those who are ready and willing to be re-educated.

As in previous years, the UsuryFree Network has designated November 13th to 19th, 2011, as the Seventh Annual UsuryFree Week. A number of functions will be scheduled to focus on the miserable failings of our orthodox, economic system of usury-based, debt money and the triumphant successes of the usuryfree, community currency movement.

SDI entrepreneurs are particularly well-positioned to play a key role in helping to usher in new economic models as they have access to prodeucts and/or services at wholesalse prices. These products and/or services can be marketed to consumers and the buyers can negotiate trades or exchanges whereby they use a portion of any usuryfree community currency in combination with a percentage of federal cash to complete their transactions.

It is important for SDI entrepreneurs to "learn what they don't know they don't know" so that they will be re-educated and prepared to share any new knowledge with their respective teams/networks of active, SDI entrepreneurs.

New Language, Great Names and Unknown Names in the SDI Industry


Permit me to clarify the evolution of words and phrases that are applicable to this growing and popular industry of home-based enterprises. The pioneers who launched the initial home-based enterprises in the mid-20th Century commonly referred to this budding sales and marketing industry as multi-level marketing. During the latter years of the 20th Century, the majority of the home-based entrepreneurs who were operating part-time and/or full time enterprises chose to refer to the evolving industry of home-based enterprises as network marketing.

The term "referral marketing" was used by some people to describe this marketing model and one particular company that was founded in the 1980's chose to use the term "consumer direct marketing" so as to distance itself from the negativity associated with multi-level or network marketing.

However, during the latter years of the 20th Century, the majority of the home-based entrepreneurs who were operating part-time and/or full time enterprises chose to refer to the evolving industry of home-based enterprises as "network marketing" while others preferred the terms "consumer direct marketing" or "referral marketing."

Around the turn of the Century, a group of experienced network marketing distributors elected to create some new language (words and phrases) for the ever-expanding network marketing industry, thereby leaving behind and previous, negative associations or experiences associated with the multi-level and/or network marketing industry during its birthing years of the 20th Century. The phrase (SDI) Self Directed Income industry was crafted to describe any home-based, owner-operated enterprise (part-time or full time) - thereby including multi-level marketing, network marketing as well as other more
conventional, direct sales marketing concepts.

Other words were crafted to enhance the growth and development of the SDI industry. For example, since "upline" denotes power over "downline" the words "team" or "network' are recommended. The words "enrolled with" are preferred to previous words such as "recruited by" or "sponsored under." To be "enrolled with" another SDI entrepreneur is more empowering for any new enrollee, than to be "sponsored under" another SDI entrepreneur.

Now, as we progress into this 21st Century, the phrase SDI industry is becoming the phrase of choice to describe any home-based, sales and marketing enterprise. It is now not uncommon for an SDI entrepreneur to have an SDI Portfolio whereby s/he earns income(s) from more than one source - given the variety of online SDI opportunties that can function with the innovative tools of social networking.

Our exponentially expanding world of SDI entrepreneurs has a history of being impressed by "great names" or "big names" who join a particular SDI opportunity or who otherwise support or endorse a selected SDI opportunity. To drop a "big name" to our prospects or to our "team depth" has commonly been a status symbol among active, SDI entrepreneurs both at the fringe and at the higher levels of achievement.

While some observers consider "name dropping" as nothing more than petty manoeuvering within the SDI industry, others beyond the SDI industry, accept that the action of "name dropping" demonstrates a learned belief common to all persons under 18, over 85, or somewhere in between. In any case, it seems that names are of the utmost importance to SDI leadership teams as well as potential prospects. Indeed, countless thousands of competing, SDI entrepreneurs continue to feel the need to drop the "big names" enrolled with their particular organization or team.

Historically, one of the biggest names of all in the SDI industry during the 20th Century was Dexter Yager - whose Amway empire - at one time in the early 1980's, was probably the largest (though not necessarily the most profitable) SDI organization in the world. Another current "big name" in the SDI industry is Ed Bestoso who is commonly referred to as "Melaleuca's most succesful Marketing Executive and only Corporate Director VI."

When Dexter Yager, at his prime as an active, SDI entrepreneur, summoned an Amway distributor to an audience with him, it was almost certain that the person would respond and make special arrangements to be present at the appointed time. Even if the requested meeting was to be scheduled at a very inopportune time, the average Amway distributor would re-arrange his/her schedule so as to be present when the "guru" of the SDI industry spoke. Likewise, now in 2011, when Ed Bestoso
summons a Melaleuca distributor to an audience with him, it almost certain that the Melaleuca distributor would make a great effort to be present.

As I recall, in the early 1980's, these same Amway distributors - many of them personal friends or acquaintances - were very unco-operative indeed, when LEADS hosted a seminar with an "unknown name" as a guest speaker. It did not seem to matter that the "unknown name" has very significant information to share - if it was not coming from a "big name" in the particular SDI organization of Amway distributors - it was not considered as important.

Since 2000, the UsuryFree Network has hosted a number of meetings/gatherings with so-called "unknown names" as guest speakers on timely topics relevant to our worsening, economic crisis and numerous SDI entrepreneurs have been invited to attend BUT until the present, few have bothered to attend. The difference - a name - that is all.

Names, by tradition, apparently do make a difference in the SDI industry and otherwise. The significance of a name, especially in the SDI industry, cannot be over-estimated at this critical time when competing SDI companies are making great gains with the unsponsored millions.

In many of the seasoned, SDI networks, names commonly had a tremendous significance. It has been suggested that a new enrollee within the Amway organizations who did not quickly understand the significance of names of higher level achievers in Amway, never did gain a basic understanding of the proven, Amway marketing plan.

As the SDI industry continues to evolve, grow and expand with numemrous competitors, the "big name" of a high achiever is often used with unique offensive (or is it defensive) power. The really good news is that "unknown names" are now commanding respect and a significant following because of their unique knowledge of "co-operative enterprise" and "real-life experiences" whereby evidence shows that the "generosity factor" is outweighing the "greed factor." It is noteworthy that the "greed factor" is commonly identified as the key reason for much of the negativity formerly associated with the network marketing industry of the latter years of the 20th Century.

Rich Joyal, (RichLongjoy.org) a so-called "unknown name," is a dedicated and experienced SDI entrepreneur who is building an SDI Portfolio with income(s) from more than one source. I know that Rich has at least two (maybe more) SDI opportunities in his SDI Portfolio. One is Youngevity which markets an abundance of health and wellness products, and the other is BonVoyage Elite which markets an innovative travel membership. Rich is on my team with both of these SDI opportunities, so the above listed links are mutually beneficial.

I have observed that Rich consistently reaches out to share his co-operative spirit with prospective and active, SDI entrepreneurs - whether or not they are directly enrolled in his particular SDI network and therefore, I have enrolled with him in these two SDI opportunities and the above listed links go directly to my replicating websites - within Rich Joyal's networking team.

This idea of co-operating with other SDI entrepreneurs who in fact may be considered as "competitors" is unique indeed, however, there is much, mutual benefit to gain when like-minded, SDI entrepreneurs embrace the co-operative spirit, rather than selfishly hanging on to what they think is the competitive edge.

While I do not deny that using Dexter Yager's name in the 1980's made things happen at that time for the various Amway organizations, I am very pleased that more and more "unknown names" are making innovative and exciting things happen with people who had previously been turned off the SDI industry by their costly experiences as multi-level marketers or network marketers - mostly victims of the "greed factor." In addition, the unsponsored millions are intrigued and motivated when they learn about the evolving SDI industry and the benefits of free enterprisers co-operating for mutual gain.

In the final analysis, it does not matter whether you are a "big name" or a "great name" or an "unknown name," it matters only that as an active, free enterpriser you NEVER knock the competition. Instead, study the competition and consider carefully the advantages of either buying a competitors products and/or services or of adding other exclusive, quality products and/or services to your present SDI Portfolio. Ask your team leaders questions and then question their answers. Blend the best of the best.

Know that "unknown names" today will become "great names" tomorrow. Remember that your "prospects" and your "team depth" know you personally as a freedom loving, free enterpriser. Let it be known also that they only learn the "great names" through your experience and knowledge as an "unknown name."

Occupy Your Mind - A Personal Strategy For Usury Evasion


Occupy Wall Street began in mid-September, triggered by prompting from Adbusters. A few hundred protestors gather in New York City in the proximity of Wall Street, to complain about our orthodox, financial system and how it breeds "corporate greed" and ballooning "corporate profits." One of their chants or mantras is: "We have to stop being a debt economy and go back to being a production economy." Since September 17th, the Occupy Wall Street movement has grown and expanded far beyond Wall Street to Y'all Streets in numerous cities all across North America and elsewhere on this planet.

In fact, North America has lost its production economy because of the design flaw of usury and how it directly and/or indirectly affects every product purchased by consumers - whether it be a hair pin or an airplane. Few people really understand that it is because of our usury-based, debt money system that the majority of the trans-national corporations have moved their production facilities to Asia or elsewhere in the third world where they can exploit labourers, pay them minimal wages and earn more profits for the corporation and its shareholders.

Indeed, the ultimate problem is not debt, rather it is the growth of debt - which is caused by the design flaw of usury. Though greed and excess by governments and the giant, trans-national corporations are symptoms, the root cause of the ever-worsening, economic debacle of debtors (individuals, families, small to medium-sized businesses, corporations, institutions and countries) everywhere is revealed as usury - but this is unknown to 99% of the protestors who chant: "We are the 99%, we will no longer remain silent."

The phenomenon of the growth of debt is caused by the evil and immoral effects of the design flaw of usury. The negative stigma surrounding burgeoning debt is leading many debtors to commit the ultimate gesture of despair - suicide. The stark truth is that debtors are becoming devastated by the negative impact of "interest" - which ought to be correctly called "usury."

Recent statistics reveal 4000+ suicides annually in Canada. The highest percentage of these suicides are committed by males (debtors) who range in age from 40 to 50 years.Their desperate acts of suicide are often financiallly motivated and their actions inflict even more pain and suffering on the loved ones they leave behind.

The economic crisis the Occupy Wall Street movement is bringing into focus cannot be understated, nor can we overstate the necessity of offering proven and workable solutions to solve the inter-connected problems of war, violence, poverty, scarcity and lack - all associated either directly and/or indirectly with the design flaw of usury.

Occupy Wall Street is a vehicle motivating people (debtors) to action. A personal strategy of we-the-people learning how to crete and spend our own usuryfree community currency, must be introduced and implemented by desperate debtors as they seek workable and proven solutions for temporary, usury prevention and ultimately absolute, usury evasion. What is needed with this personal strategy is a re-education process that promotes self-imposed courses of study on topics that formal education neglects to teach,

While Occupying Wall Street or any other streets, debtors are encouraged to "Occupy Your Mind" with the truth about modern money creation and the problems associated with "usury" and add some solution-oriented knowledge and resources about entrepreneurism - the SDI (Self Directed Income) style where they can learn about co-operative networking to earn secondary sources of income(s).

A good starting point is for debtors to familiarize themselves with the twin blogs: (a) The UsuryFree Eye Opener and (b) The SDI Eye Opener.

Ultimately, for suicide rates to be halted and for something positive to evolve from the Occupy Wall Street movement, usury nust be studied, assessed, exposed and abolished. The abolition of usury begins with a nod to the possibility of usuryfree living in this incarnation. Previously, there was "Life Without Usury" and we can experience "UsuryFree Living" again in this 21st Century.

Hopefully, the Occupy Wall Street movement will motivate protestors (debtors) to explore trends that can expand their understanding of their legal right to "evade usury" and "avoid taxes." With sufficient new knowledge, the majority of debtors will be motivated to become active, usuryfree creatives who double as enthusiastic, SDI entrepreneurs.

Tony Hsieh – Don’t Network, Build Relationships

"I say that I read a lot of books but the truth is, I really only ”start” many. I have a passion for sports, business and the web so rarely does my choice of books go beyond those topics. I’ve made efforts to read more fiction but I never get through 30 pages, unless the book somehow relates to an entrepreneur or a sports setting.

I’ve been the busiest I have ever been since landing in Cebu, but still finding time to browse books and read here and there. I’ve had my eye on Tony Hsieh’s book ”Delivering Happiness” for almost a year but it was just another book on the list. Tony Hsieh is the CEO of Zappos, which sold to Amazon for a vulgar amount of cash. I came across the book at a local book store and picked it up for under $10.

The timing on this read is impeccable – I won’t ruin the book for anyone, but if you have ever dreamed of being an entrepreneur and authoring your own life experiences, Tony details the most important (and the most trying) parts of his personal development and the growth of his companies.

Chapter after chapter – he seems to be hitting home with his stories, making me truly open to his advice. The fact that he has experienced many of the same types of setbacks that we are currently living as a small startup is reassuring, knowing where he has ended up.

"I personally really dislike “business networking” events. At almost every one of these events, it seems like the goal is to walk around and find people to trade business cards with, with the hope of meeting someone who can help you out in business and in exchange you can help that person out somehow. I generally try to avoid those types of events, and I rarely carry any business cards around with me.

Instead, I really prefer to focus on just building relationships and getting to know people as just people, regardless of their position in the business world or even if they’re not from the business world. I believe that there’s something interesting about anyone and everyone — you just have to figure out what that something is. If anything, I’ve found that it’s more interesting to build relationships with people that are not in the business world because they almost always can offer unique perspectives and insights, and also because those relationships tend to be more genuine.

If you are able to figure out how to be truly interested in someone you meet, with the goal of building up a friendship instead of trying to get something out of that person, the funny thing is that almost always, something happens later down the line that ends up benefiting either your business or yourself personally.

I don’t really know why this happens or why it works, but it seems that the benefit from getting to know someone on a personal level usually happens 2-3 years after you started working on building the relationship. And it’s usually something that you could not have possibly predicted would have happened at the beginning of the relationship. For example, maybe your friend’s sister’s neighbor was just hired as the VP of a company that you’ve been trying to get in touch with, or maybe someone you met 2 years ago now has a new tennis partner who would be the perfect person for that job opening you’ve been trying to fill for the past 6 months.

Zappos.com has been around for over 10 years now. We grew from no sales in 1999 to over $1 billion in gross merchandise sales in 2008. In looking back at the major turning points in the history of the company, it seems that most of them were the result of pure luck. Things happened that we could not have possibly predicted, but they were the result of relationships that we had started building 2-3 years earlier.

So my advice is to stop trying to “network” in the traditional business sense, and instead just try to build up the number and depth of your friendships, where the friendship itself is its own reward. The more diverse your set of friendships are, the more likely you’ll derive both personal and business benefits from your friendships later down the road. You won’t know exactly what those benefits will be, but if your friendships are genuine, those benefits will magically appear 2-3 years later down the road." (snip) ...

Co-operation Through Collaboration With Compensation

The usuryfree lifestyle rejects competition and collusion and promotes a new model of innovative co-operation through collaboration with compensation - within the SDI (Self Directed Income) industry.

While fostering free enterprise, we - the SDI entrepreneurs - must raise the level of professionalism in the SDI industry by re-educating novice and seasoned, SDI entrepreneurs about modern money creation and its lies, deceits and deceptions.

We must strive to shift the consciousness of the debtors so that "usuryfree living" becomes just as mainstream as "living with usury" is and has been throughout the centuries.

Indeed, it is time to create our own loyal database of SDI entrepreneurs who double as usuryfree creatives. We-the-people must learn how to negotiate trades/exchanges of our skills, talents, products and/or services so that all who choose to participate can reap the mutual benefits. By so doing we can supplement our diminishing amounts of usury-based, debt money and focus on paying off any outstanding debts as it is the growth of the debt that causes the severe, economic pain.

In the process, re-education can be offered on a variety of topics such as health and wellness, alternative energy, spirituality, etc.

How do we start to grow this loyal database of like-minded thinkers? The process is underway - choose an SDI opportunity as a starting point and begin to build an online, databse of usuryfree creatives who double as SDI entrepreneurs.

Becoming FREE of Usury Terrorists

The voice of usuryfree creatives who reject usury and their (the usurers') New World Order, so far has been sorely missing from the ongoing demonstrations about "Occupy Wall Street." Most people do not realize that the cutbacks and the ever-present shortage of funds can be directly and/or indirectly attributed to the design flaw of usury and its evil and immoral effects on debtors everywhere.

The awakening of the masses may help to shatter the silence about the lies, deceit and deception about modern money creation. Currently, we are hearing from countless middle-class Americans and Canadians like myself and my family.

The awakened ones are rejecting the erosion of freedom and the intrusion of the police state. They are sick and tired of being over-taxed while the exacting of usury and payments of rising taxes diminish their monthly earnings. They are sick and tired of usury and usurious service charges on their debit cards and credit cards - thereby creating record profits for banking corporations.

They are sick and tired of the relentless attempts by Big Brother to shore up their cash by instilling fear in merchants so that they are afraid to accept larger denomination bills ($50. And $100.) as payment for products and/or services. And they are especially sick and tired of politicians at the municipal, provincial and federal levels of government forsaking leadership - and selling out to the hidden agendas of the usury elites.

In summary, they are sick and tired of being financially enslaved, foreclosed upon, bankrupted, unemployed, destitute and dispossessed when their property is being seized. They correctly view their earnings or money as their property as well as their material possessions.

Eleven years into this 21st Century, we the usuryfree creative and the "becoming" usuryfree creative who are awakening are vowing to spend our money differently to achieve a different result. Our plans for a national network of home-based and small to medium-sized, community businesses nudges the door open to initiate "barter and trade" within our own, loyal database whereby each of us will create and spend our own usuryfree time currency.

Indeed, the time may be now, that we-the-people are prepared to break the cycle of oppression now that usuryfree creative have identified "usury" as the killer machine that keeps debtors financially enslaved to creditors for generation after generation. To fully understand the enslaving effect of the design flaw of usury, we must understand a few things. What is usury? What is its function? Who is really in control of the usury machinery? What can we do to effect change NOW?

What is usury? Usury is the correct word to define "interest" on debt - as exacted on the debtor by the creditor. Usury is never created and put into circulation simultaneously when any loan or mortgage is issued. But usury is exacted as a monthly fee, payable to the creditor by the debtor.

The function of usury is to directly legalize plunder by stealing the wealth from we-the-people - the debtors. The global banking cartel (syndicate) is really in control of the usury machinery. The creditors are rich and the debtors are poor BUT we have the potential to change that. We can make change happen by making conscious decisions to spend our money differently. Permit me to clearly explain the problem and then I will focus on the solution.

Contrary to popular belief, money for consumer loans and mortgages is not borrowed from depositors' funds. For every new personal loan, vehicle loan or mortgage (the principal) is created out of nothing by the stroke of a banker's pen because the federal government has given bankers a license to do so.

The rate of usury that is exacted on the loan is never directly created, therefore the usury rate percentage as demanded by the banker is never issued into our orthodox, economic system of debt money. Consequently, there is forever a shortage or money, and the total debt can never be re-paid. Instead, more money is always borrowed into existence and the debt grows exponentially - keeping all debtors (individuals, families, businesses, and governments) in financial bondage to creditors for generation after generation.

It is important to understand that if one (debtor) individual or business is fortunate to be able to earn sufficient money to pay back the "principal" plus the "interest" or "usury" it follows that another debtor will be short of funds and face bankruptcy or foreclosure. This is the reality of the design flaw of usury - the killer machine within our orthodox, economic system of debt money. There is simply not enough money circulating in the monetary system for the sum of all our loans to be paid back, therefore, new loans are always invited and required.

We-the-people - the debtors - are playing in a usurious game of financial chairs whereby we are all scrambling to earn sufficient debt money to pay our "usury" and "taxes" while the system teaches us to try to take advantage of each other to earn that little extra to ensure our financial survival.

We have come to accept that "selfish gratification" at the expense of others is acceptable in this vicious cycle. The shortage of funds that causes debt slavery and permeates every level of society is directly related to the evil function of "usury" - and it is everywhere.

Our current "usury-based" economic system of debt money is immoral and genocidal. it is time to change it NOW by making a conscious choice to spend our money differently - within home-based enterprises and/or with small to medium-sized businesses in our respective, local communities.

We-the-people must create our own loyal databases and encourage astute consumers to purchase our goods and services from within these loyal databases. By committing to do so, we can revive the concept of "bartering and trading" for the mutual benefit of all who choose to participate. After all, why shoild we-the-people keep using their (the bankers') money and keep paying them a fee (usury) when we can now create and spend our own money for FREE?

We can create our own personal, usuryfree time currency. It has been suggested that we value one hour of time for basic, unskilled labour at a value equivalent to $12.00(Canadian Fuunds). By covering our wholesale costs with federal cash and agreeing to accept a portion of our profit margins with a usuryfree time currency - which will be accpeted by others in our inter-connected, loyal networks - we will be empowering ourselves and re-building our respective, local communities.

We-the-people can effect the change we envision NOW by making a conscious decision to spend our money differently in 2011 and beyond. As a consumer, you are invited to make a commitment to spend a minimum $100. on monthly purchases of products from home-based enterprise(s) - either your own or from someone you know who has a home-based enterprise in the SDI (Self Directed Income) industry.

This is money that you are currently spending anyways with the giant, trans-national, retail corporations to support your lifestyle, so you will be simply making an informed choice to spend this amount of money differently. There is no additional expense to simply switch your shopping habits to shop-at-home and there are many benefits available to those who choose to become active in the SDI (Self Directed Income) industry.

A quick review of the global progress of the GemFortunes SDI opportunity

Co-operation Rather Than Competition

Backgrounder:

In the mid-1960’s, I began my career as an elementary school teacher and set out on my life’s journey satisfied to survive with a salaried income as I married and began to raise a family. Little did I know of the future twists and turns my life would take in this incarnation.

In the late 1970’s, I was introduced to what was known then as the multi-level or network marketing industry through the Amway business opportunity - one of the pioneering, part-time, opportunities of the industry. I have a statement etched in my mind spoken by Rich DeVoss, one of the co-founders of the Amway Corporation. I heard this statement at the first Amway meeting I attended in the spring of 1979, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Rich DeVoss said and I paraphrase: “This industry has the potential to market everything from hairpins to airplanes.” Indeed, Rich DeVoss’s vision has proven to be on target.

I quickly recognized the power and potential of this innovative, sales and marketing strategy, but over the years, I have been dismayed at the number of charlatans whose greedy actions tainted this almost, perfect, marketing model. In an effort to leave behind the negative images associated with multi-level and network marketing and move forward with renewed vigour and new visions, myself and other associates in the industry created another name - the SDI (Self Directed Income) industry.

During the 1980’s, I pursued free enterprise on a part-time basis with an SDI enterprise, while continuing my full time career as an elementary school teacher and my role as a husband and father of three children. In the early 1980’s, I was also fortunate to learn the “truth” about modern, money creation and how the design flaw of usury is the killer machine that keeps debtors in financial bondage to creditors for generation after generation.

As well, in the 1980’s I was introduced to the usuryfree community currency movement. I learned that by simply introducing a usuryfree software to replace the malfunctioning, usury-bearing software used in our orthodox, economic system, everyone on planet earth could potentially experience a usuryfree lifestyle.

For almost 30 years, I have held the vision and worked towards twinning the best aspects of the SDI industry with the optimal elements of the usuryfree community currency movement to initiate a proven and workable, co-operative model of free enterprise where all participants would be winners - potentially living a usuryfree lifestyle.

Over the years, I have written numerous letters to CEO’s of leading “home office” companies in the SDI industry suggesting creative ideas to implement, but as of this present date no “home office” of a leading SDI company has responded with a positive intent to implement any of the suggested concepts.

I have often been told that my ideas are creative BUT there is not sufficient political will to motivate conventional entrepreneurs who are still holding on to the “competitive model” of free enterprise to change their way of doing business. “Not sufficient political will” can be translated to mean “not sufficient numbers of debtors who double as SDI entrepreneurs,” and who are willing to risk implementing the co-operative model of free enterprise. I daresay, our time to pursue the “co-operation model” of free enterprise is coming early in this 21st Century

In the late 1990’s, I launched my first website to teach what formal education neglects to teach and what the mainstream electronic and print media dismiss as “not newsworthy.”

In 2001, I created the NoUsury Network which later evolved to become The UsuryFree Network. In 2005, the UsuryFree Network in co-operation with the Family Life Foundation and other active usuryfree creatives launched the first annual UsuryFree Day (November 13th) and UsuryFree Week (November 13th to 19th). This year (2001) we will be celebrating the Seventh Annual UsuryFree Week from November 13th to 19th.

In 2007, I opened an account with Facebook to likewise, share similar, information, resources and knowledge with a global network of friends in cyberspace. In August 2011, I reached my capacity of 5000 “friends” on Facebook - the majority of whom were referred to my Facebook account by “cyberspace friends” who are seeking to learn what formal education neglects to teach. Since Facebook Inc. does not permit anyone to have more than 5000 “friends,” I created a page at Facebook for The UsuryFree Network where anyone can “Like” the page and visit often to keep informed of relevant information and happenings.

Early in this 21st Century, I created the twin blogs (a) The UsuryFree Eye Opener and (b) The SDI (Self Directed Income) Eye Opener to facilitate the re-education process of those who are ready and willing to pursue a self-imposed course of study on topics that are (a) commonly dismissed as “not newsworthy” by the meddling, mainstream media and (b) ignored by our orthodox institutions of formal education.

Though the “followers” statistics indicate that I have only 19 followers for these twin blogs, as of this present date (September 24, 2011) I have had over 31,000 visitors to these blogs. I am pleased that more and more people are seeking knowledge and resources from alternative sources, rather than relying on conventional news, this is evidence that there is a shift in the consciousness of the masses.

I created the blog - The UsuryFree Eye Opener for two reasons (a) to educate (or re-educate) debtors on the truth about modern money creation and to enable them to fully understand how the design flaw of usury functions as the killer machine within our orthodox, economic system of debt money and (b) to inform debtors that indeed, usuryfree living is a possibility are we progress into this 21st Century, given the worldwide acceptance of the perfected model of usuryfree finance - the usuryfree community currency movement - with its co-operative elements.

I created the blog - The SDI Eye Opener to educate (or re-educate) active and prospective, SDI entrepreneurs about the SDI industry - otherwise referred to as the Multi-Level or Network Marketing industry. In my humble opinion, the SDI industry, though about 60 years young, is still in its birthing process as a sales and marketing strategy.

As we now progress into this 21st Century there is much evidence to indicate that old paradigms are crumbling as they are not sustainable for the survival of human beings on planet earth. At this time, the SDI industry is well positioned to lead the way in uniting people both locally and globally to facilitate the shift from “competitive enterprise” and all of its malfunctions to “co-operative enterprise” with all of its perfected elements.

The Co-operative Spirit Trumps the Competitive Spirit
Daily news broadcasts clearly indicate that our paradigms are shifting - the competitive models of doing business in the 20th Century, and previously are breaking down. The co-operation models - of all who choose to participate in selected free enterprise opportunities are steadily improving and rising up to fill the gap.

As the model of “co-operative enterprise” gains popularity as the optimal way to engage in business transaction, the SDI (Self Directed Income) industry is leading the way with a plethora of unique, online, business opportunities surfacing. What is noteworthy is the fact that the spirit of co-operation and teamwork is being woven into the sales and marketing strategies of various, recently launched SDI opportunities. This spirit of co-operation when twinned with essential background knowledge about why the “competitive spirit” of doing business is failing enables the participating SDI entrepreneurs who are open to building an SDI Portfolio to multiply and duplicate their efforts with new recruits who are seeking secondary sources of income(s).

The Role of the SDI Industry

In any business, SDI or otherwise, the amount of energy put in is relevant to the amount of gain received. This is very true of these newest, online, SDI opportunities. It is important that any legitimate SDI opportunity have a marketable product and there must be no misrepresentation or promises about earnings. One can only say what one knows to be absolutely true about any SDI business opportunity. Having fun, earning income(s), and trying something new is the underlying intent of pursuing new, SDI, business ventures. Given the ease of modern technology it is possible to grow one’s earnings from a home-based , SDI enterprise.

In the late 1990’s, I enrolled with the Pentagono, SDI, business opportunity where the sales mantra “buy one, sell three” was extolled. I did earn some significant, extra income with the Pentagono SDI opportunity, as did those SDI entrepreneurs who networked the program with our team of usuryfree creatives - and we learned lots about the spirit of co-operation.

Since 2000, I have continued my research with the evolution of the SDI industry. Given the ease of modern technology and social networking, it is my humble observation that the newest SDI opportunities are focusing on "business centres."

The cost to enroll, buy a product and set up a business centre ranges from as low as $5.00 (US Funds) to as high as $1000. (US Funds) - or more. Over the years, the sales mantra has changed to “buy one, sell two," as the binary model becomes more popular. It is my humble opinion that absolutely anyone and everybody has the potential to enrol a minimum of two SDI entrepreneurs in any SDI opportunity.

We are still living in a world where avarice, greed, and selfishness (directly caused by the evil and immoral effects of the design flaw of usury) are in the consciousness of a high percentage of the masses, and many people still choose to look for government entities to protect them from charlatans and so-called “pyramid scams” in the SDI industry. Indeed, pyramid structures common to our physical world of “competitive enterprise” commonly exist in traditional business opportunities as well as in the more innovate, SDI industry. Misinformation and disinformation abound when people describe their understanding of the word “pyramid.” It intrigues me that most people work as wage earners in a “pyramid structure,” and yet they wrongly criticize legitimate, business opportunities in the SDI industry as “pyramid schemes or scams.”

Have No Fear of the Word “Pyramid”

In response, I commonly direct prospective SDI entrepreneurs to read the article “Have No Fear of the Word Pyramid” which is posted at The SDI Eye Opener.

And then I direct prospective SDI entrepreneurs to the Competition Act published by Industry Canada - particularly Sections 55 and 55.1 wherein it is written:

“An opinion under sections 55 and 55.1 of the Act will not be given in the following situations: where the plan involves gold or silver coins, the travel industry or discount cards. An opinion will not be given in these situations because of the difficulty of establishing the value of these products. In such cases it is not possible to determine whether consideration is being paid for the right to receive bonuses for recruitment. An opinion will also not be provided where the operator is situated outside of Canada and there is no entity incorporated in Canada, or no individual located in Canada who could be liable for the actions of the company.”

Service Is Virtue

Then I remind prospective and active SDI entrepreneurs that “Service is the Virtue” by sharing this famous quotation excerpted from the book “Not By Bread Alone,” authored by Bryant S. Hinckley, page 25, published by Bookcraft, Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955.

“Service is the virtue that distinguishes the great of all times and which they will be remembered by. It places a mark of nobility upon its disciples. It is the dividing line which separates the two great groups of the world - those who help and those who hinder, those who lift and those who lean, those who contribute and those who only consume. How much better it is to give than to receive. Service in any form is comely and beautiful. To give encouragement, to impart sympathy, to show interest, to banish fear, to build self-confidence and awaken hope in the hearts of others,  in short - to love them and show it - is to render the most precious service.”

Informed, usuryfree creatives who are dedicated to “service” and who double as SDI (Self Directed Income) entrepreneurs are actively making a difference by reaching out to serve others with knowledge, resources and optimal SDI opportunities - all of which foster the ultimate experience of usuryfree living as we evolve through these tumultuous, transitory times of economic, dire straits.

Our goal as a collective of active, SDI entrepreneurs is to reach out and help new recruits to achieve their ultimate level of success with their SDI Portfolio - with a focus on generating income(s) from business opportunities that can generate significant online earnings both locally and globally given the ease of modern, internet technology.

Innovative Strategies To Implement and Lead The Way

To lead the way in facilitating the shift from “competitive enterprise” to “co-operative enterprise,” I recommend that a few innovative strategies be implemented and assessed. These ideas will give more value and optimal service to prospective SDI entrepreneurs who choose to join us and network with our team of usuryfree creatives who double as active SDI entrepreneurs.

For example, the “pay-it-forward” concept can be mutually beneficial for those who choose to implement this strategy. The “pay-it-forward” concept can be offered to any prospective SDI entrepreneur who is ready and willing to network any selected SDI opportunity, but whose present economic situation is such that s/he does not immediately have access to the initial start-up fee that is not immediately needed for monthly living expenses.

As of the present date, I have granted five prospective SDI entrepreneurs short-term, micro, usuryfree loans of $300. (US Funds) with these four conditions: (1) when they are experiencing economic abundance they will similarly offer the “pay-it-forward” concept to prospective, SDI entrepreneurs who are experiencing temporary scarcity of funds, (2) make a genuine effort to enroll two SDI entrepreneurs in the selected SDI opportunity as quickly as possible, (3) agree (contract) to re-pay the short-term, micro, usuryfree loan as soon as the first commissions arrive and (4) agree to help and coach all newly enrolled SDI entrepreneurs to multiply and duplicate the spirit of “co-operation” and blend this spirit into the model of “co-operative enterprise.”

Tax Benefits of an SDI Enterprise


Many conventional business people have been disillusioned by high income tax and tremendous amounts of red tape and government inefficiency. SDI entrepreneurs are sheltered from the high administrative costs of doing business for the “home office” of the respective SDI company commonly hires people to keep track of the monthly sales volume.

Could the tax sheltered incomes of SDI entrepreneurs foster a quiet tax revolt and eventually reduce the oppressive powers of government? The prospect of a world with less government is a cause for rejoicing all by itself!

When SDI entrepreneurs start their home-based enterprise they become independent entrepreneurs. They are not employees. As owners of an SDI enterprise, they are entitled under the Income Tax Act to deduct certain expenses incurred in attempting to build their SDI enterprise. Indeed, there are significant deductions available to active SDI entrepreneurs.

Obviously, business expenses can only be deducted when an SDI entrepreneur is truly building an enterprise. This translates to mean that the harder one works at ones enterprise, the greater the tax benefits. Becoming an SDI entrepreneur in this 21st Century, gives wage-earners numerous tax advantages - especially if one is an employee and while operating a part-time SDI enterprise.

Since the SDI industry commonly promotes part-time enterprises, SDI entrepreneurs have a tremendous advantage of being able to deduct business losses from other wages or salaries.

It has already been established that most enterprises incur significant losses in their early years, SDI entrepreneurs can reduce their overall tax bill significantly when they launch a part-time, home-based enterprise.

“Tax losses” are not to be confused with “cash losses.” It is possible for an SDI enterprise to earn cash profits and still have “tax losses.” SDI entrepreneurs incur “tax losses” by deducting the expenses of using one’s personal assets (house, vehicle, telephone, computer, etc.) in building one’s enterprise. A large portion of these expenses can be deducted as business expenses if one is seriously building an SDI enterprise.

Keep in mind that one would normally have these expenses even if one is not building an SDI enterprise.

An SDI enterprise qualifies for the normal business expenses and much more. The normal expenses associated with any wholesale/retail enterprise are: (a) cost of merchandise (b) supplies (c) office expenses (d) interest and bank charges (e) advertising (f) professional fees (g) industry publications etc.

In addition to the above, normal, business expenses active SDI entrepreneurs have additional tax benefits:

Vehicle:

Since SDI entrepreneurs are in the field of direct selling, as an owner of one’s own independent enterprise, one is permitted to deduct a portion of the operating costs of a vehicle - licenses, insurance, interest fees and depreciation. Active SDI entrepreneurs have very little personal use of a vehicle since they “live” their enterprise all the time by seeking to expand through enrolling new SDI entrepreneurs and/or marketing products and/or services.

Residence:

As an active SDI entrepreneur with an office in one’s place of residence, one qualifies to deduct a portion of the cost of the following items: (a) heat, light and electricity (b) house insurance (c) mortgage interest or rent (d) property taxes (e) maintenance (f) security (g) any other expenses incurred to operate your residence.

Depending on how much space one sets aside for the enterprise, the deduction can be significant.

Travel:

An enthusiastic and eager SDI entrepreneur is always seeking to expand his/her enterprise. Since most SDI opportunities are now operating globally, active SDI entrepreneurs are encouraged to enrol people from different countries. So why not take the business “on the road,” “on the track,” ‘on the water,” or “in the air?”

This feature is unique to the SDI industry. When one takes one’s enterprise with him/her, the travel expenses are deductible. When one travels one must, of course, travel with the intention of expanding one’s enterprise. CRA officials cannot prevent one from enjoying oneself on any business trip!

Wages To Family Members:

A functioning SDI enterprise demands that routine weekly tasks be completed by someone. One can pay reasonable wages to one’s spouse and/or children etc. Always make sure that any conditions required are met before this deduction is claimed. For example, if any family member earns more than a specified limit, then one must reduce the personal deduction for them on the income tax return.

Entertainment and Promotion:

If, in attempting to expand one’s enterprise by enrolling new SDI entrepreneurs, one incurs entertainment expenses, then one is permitted to deduct such expenses. For example, if one takes prospects (potential SDI entrepreneurs) or retail customers to a restaurant to discuss an SDI opportunity and/or selected products, any business expense incurred qualifies as a business deduction. If one invites prospects to one’s residence for dinner and an SDI business opportunity is discussed, the costs of the food and drinks is deductible.

Other Expenses:

Just as each SDI entrepreneur’s circumstances differ, so does the extent of one’s business deductions. It is recommended that any SDI entrepreneur seeks professional help in preparing the annual income tax returns. The fees for this service are deductible and one can better spend time enrolling and coaching new SDI entrepreneurs or selling products.

SDI Sales Organizations Briefly Explained

And of what does an SDI sales organization consist? The brief explanation given here is all that prospects or newcomers need to be given by enrolling (or sponsoring) SDI entrepreneurs in the first encounter.

To become an active SDI entrepreneur is entirely a matter of free will and commitment to the respective “home office” and the network of awakened SDI entrepreneurs who have learned the importance of freeing themselves from orthodox, economic system of usury-based, debt money.

The SDI method of sales and marketing was conceived of and launched in the 1950’s. In the beginning, there was little more than an idea, a big dream and one product and people who believed.

During 2010, thousands of products and/or services with a retail sales value of multiple billions of dollars were marketed to worldwide networks of satisfied customers by numerous “home offices” of SDI companies which rely on a delivery system of people who commonly refer to themselves as SDI entrepreneurs.

These SDI entrepreneurs are not conventional sales representatives, but rather independent SDI entrepreneurs who choose to market selected products and/or services directly to the consumer both at the wholesale and retail levels.

Briefly, here is how the various sales and marketing plans operate. New SDI entrepreneurs (people who have access to products and/or services for sale) are enrolled (sponsored) by an SDI entrepreneur already enrolled.

New SDI entrepreneurs commonly receive a refundable sales and marketing kit (usually costing less than $50.00) which may contain promotional literature, selected sample products, possibly a replicating website for a minimum of one month. There is no profit for selling sales and marketing kits.

No SDI entrepreneur profits until s/he teaches the newly enrolled SDI entrepreneur how to profit. New SDI entrepreneurs are encouraged to read about the company and perhaps listen to a CD or view a DVD.

Since “selling is simply telling” new SDI entrepreneurs are encouraged to purchase some products for their personal use and try them, for the belief is that when one becomes familiar with the products and/or services, it is easy to share the details about them with potential customers.

Each new SDI entrepreneur is qualified to purchase any products or services at wholesale prices from their own replicating website. Any retail sale of a product commonly earns the new SDI entrepreneur a small profit - on average 30% - that it the difference between the wholesale price and the suggested retail price paid by the customer.

Usually, each product is also worth so many points or so much business volume and the “home office” of the SDI company pays additional commissions or bonuses according to the details on the compensation plan.

New SDI entrepreneurs quickly learn that while there is reasonable, immediate profit in the direct selling of products, the key to earning a good source of secondary income is multiplication and duplication to your efforts through enrolling (sponsoring) others who will commit themselves to do part-time work to earn extra income.

When each new SDI entrepreneur purchases products, it automatically increases the sales volume of the group and individual commissions are paid accordingly. Obviously, the more new SDI entrepreneurs, one enrols, the more solid the source of secondary income.

The SDI Industry Has Great Potential

As we progress into this 21st Century, the SDI (Self Directed Income) Industry - formerly or otherwise referred to as Multi-Level or Network Marketing has indeed become one of the best sources of solid, secondary income(s).

The growth of the SDI industry is a story of great accomplishment which utilizes the greatest of all the natural resources - its people. More and more SDI entrepreneurs are daring to explore unrealized horizons as others all around them talk about doom, gloom and tragedy.

Since the pioneers of the SDI industry conceived of this innovative marketing concept in the 1950’s, countless thousands of people have accepted the challenge to build home-based, SDI enterprises on a part-time or full time basis.

Now there are literally hundreds of SDI companies offering thousands of quality products, services and business opportunities to discriminating, shop-at-home consumers.

My introduction to the SDI industry was through the Amway business opportunity way back on March 29, 1979. At that time, I was an employee of the Ottawa Carleton Board of Education and my chosen career was an elementary school teacher.

A successful business friend of mine had said to me about one year earlier: “Are you aware that your employer is getting rich on your efforts when you could be in business for yourself and know “real riches?” “Real riches” he said, “is not monetary wealth alone.” He explained to me that success in not sinful as most people would have us believe. For him, “real riches” was fulfillment, surrounded by the family who share with each other the simple pleasures if life with abundant, hard-earned money.

That night, on March 29, 1979, I saw the SDI industry as a vehicle for our family to acquire “real riches.” After I had gained knowledge and technique from Amway as a single “home office supplier” I searched for additional “home office suppliers” and commenced to build my personal SDI Portfolio.

An ever increasing number of SDI entrepreneurs are embracing the concept of building an SDI Portfolio. I caution SDI entrepreneurs to verify that the respective “home office supplier” of the selected SDI opportunity does not impose restrictive conditions in the fine print of the sales and marketing contract.

Some “home office suppliers” will terminate SDI entrepreneurs if they find out you are earning income(s) from more than one SDI company. In recent years, too many SDI entrepreneurs who were intent on building an SDI Portfolio, have had their distributorship terminated and their monthly earnings abruptly halted by the “home office supplier.” Such action is contrary to the true spirit of “free enterprise.”

I remember my sponsor (the SDI entrepreneur who recruited me into the Amway business opportunity) explaining that anyone can get what he wants if he helps enough other people get what they want. Then he went on to explain, “You really can help people, either by selling them products of quality and excellence - rare characteristics in today’s marketplace - or you can share the business and marketing plan and give them a key to a new future.”

During the 1980’s, when I pursued the Amway SDI opportunity, I learned to reach out to help others in a sincere and honest way. I did earn a respectable secondary income and I learned much about the SDI industry while I was an Amway distributor for 13 years. I did receive much criticism and occasional complements. One comment I remember is: “So and so is not going to get rich off me.” How absurd!

People must come to understand that nobody gets rich off anybody in the SDI industry - if they work to serve others and evade the greed factor. When committed SDI entrepreneurs work together with renewed trust and faith’ everybody who chooses to participate has the potential to benefit.

I believe that there are three main reasons that people side step the challenge of any SDI opportunity - fear, status and deflated dreams. Status is probably the most common impediment to seeing oneself as a successful SDI entrepreneur.

The educated generation of baby boomers were taught to believe there was status in titles. In fact, money is the best measuring device of status. There are many successful business people who have status but very little education.

As a committed SDI entrepreneur, I gave up my status title as “teacher.” Over the years, I have also learned that other teachers, doctors, lawyers, executives, hockey players etc. are just as proud to operate a sideline SDI enterprise as I am.

Fear and deflated dreams are the other two impediments to supplement each other. People have deflated dreams because they are afraid to take that first step on the journey to success. One of the greatest fears that I have observed over the years is: “What would other people think?”

I learned how to deal with this statement when a sincere friend on mine - a successful SDI entrepreneur - said to me: “Would any of your friends die for you?” I answered, “No!” He then asked me yet another question: “Why then do you live for your friends?” That was when I made a decision to live for myself and not allow myself to be susceptible to the negative influence of other people.

I have been a student of the SDI industry for over 30 years and even now every day I learn how little I know. The greatest challenge that myself and other SDI entrepreneurs seek to overcome is the fact that our respective families, friends, neighbours, working colleagues - people who mean so much to me - still misunderstand the concept of being an SDI entrepreneur.

In fact, my greatest successes have come from sharing SDI opportunities with people who were strangers, but have become friends and associate SDI entrepreneurs. These people put trust and belief in me when I tell them success in the SDI industry does not rely on door-to-door selling.

In fact, it has been my observation over the years, that loyal clients are often the ones who sell products for SDI entrepreneurs. “Quality, economy, excellence and satisfaction guarantees” are commonly spread by word of mouth and/or by “click of mouse.” Satisfied clients often ask SDI entrepreneurs about the “business opportunity” and eventually get enrolled as active SDI entrepreneurs.

When new SDI entrepreneurs are recruited, the enroller (sponsor) accepts the responsibility to coach and motivate them to action. This means commitment to one’s SDI enterprise.

Often, family, friends, neighbours, working colleagues etc. don’t understand the mysteries of motivation. They prefer to know you and see you as you were living with your deflated dreams, not as you are willing to become by putting your efforts into earning income(s) from your SDI Portfolio. To be a successful SDI entrepreneur, you must be willing to move beyond “mediocrity.”

To motivate others, the dictionary tells us, is to cause them to act in a certain way. Motivation is a word that is commonly associated with successful people. With unprecedented growth rates, SDI entrepreneurs are breaking records - daily, weekly, monthly - as they market billions of dollars in annual retail sales on an annual basis.

Top level corporate executives in SDI companies and leading SDI entrepreneurs in the field are becoming experts on motivation. They know that mediocrity in not exciting. They classify job and basic financial security as “low level” motivators which guarantee only a low level effort. People can easily become trapped by low-level motivators.

James J. Cribben, a management expert, wrote in his book “Effective Managerial Leadership,” published in 1971 - “To elicit their top performance, one must get them to drive themselves.”

Leading SDI entrepreneurs understand the function of motivation in business is to move members of their respective teams to perform at the very peak of their abilities. They understand the basic requirements needed to motivate people to their best performance.

When the pioneer SDI opportunities were conceived by true SDI entrepreneurs, they set out to create a system which fulfills the four basin needs for man’s success: (a) man’s need for recognition (b) man’s need to belong (c) man’s need for security and (d) man’s need for freedom

Effective leadership in any SDI organization draws forth a willing effort from participants who drive themselves. They want to do their utmost for their leader.

I must point out here that the antithesis of leadership is dictatorship in which an unwilling effort is forced out of people by a devastating application of power. Any involuntary effort is likely to be less effective than one given voluntarily. Over history, dictatorships have invariably produced rebels devoted to their own demise.

The SDI industry fulfills those four basic needs of man in a unique way envied by people in careers with institutions, government and other organizations. The “home offices” of SDI companies commonly recognize successful SDI entrepreneurs by unique reward or performance level systems.

I remember when I received my first award for what I thought was a small achievement in my SDI enterprise. Like most beginners, I was shy only because in my career job as an elementary school teacher, one does not usually receive recognition for small achievements. Leaders in the SDI industry know that when small achievements are recognized greater achievements are encouraged.

The simplified recipe that produces success in the SDI industry is: (a) have a dream (b) set short-term goals (c) make a plan and follow it and (d) establish a positive, mental attitude and see yourself not as you are, but as you will become.

To build and maintain this positive, mental attitude in a world of negativism, it is necessary to read positive, self-help books, listen to positive content on Cds or DVDs, view positive video clips on the internet - this helps keep the message alive by spaced, repetition. Leading SDI entrepreneurs know that hearing something once will not cause change to occur from within themselves.

One of the keys to success in any SDI enterprise is to decide to begin. Initially, it was not a big decision for me, but it is certainly one that I am glad I made. In today’s modern world, most people avoid making significant decisions. They just let small, insignificant details carry them along, consequently they do not make any remarkable accomplishments.

The world of the SDI industry has only begun to grow. This worldwide movement where “people” come first will explode exponentially in this 21st Century. Already there are millions in the world wide networks and expansion continues at the rate of thousands of new recruits on a daily basis.

A new generation is emerging, a generation of positive thinkers who will accept the challenge to advance themselves by their own efforts as they tire of being “mediocre wage slaves.”

There is nothing wrong with the SDI industry. It is free enterprise at work with a co-operative spirit. Free enterprise offers a possible dream, not the false hope that so many people seek by paying voluntary tax as they amass their weekly bundle of lottery tickets.

Since tomorrow’s best leaders are today’s best followers, you are invited to familiarize yourself with the circles of winners in the world of SDI entrepreneurs; you just might be motivated to follow them. Your possibilities in the SDI industry are as limitless as the far horizon and your involvement will help preserve the Siamese twins of “freedom and free enterprise.”

Communicate with active SDI entrepreneurs, in person and/or on the internet, educate yourself by reading books, blogs, newsletters, magazines trade publications etc. which focus on the SDI sector of the explosive, direct sales industry. Then seek to get enrolled in one or more SDI opportunities - by choice rather than by accident. The future is NOW!
